from 749 reviewsThe meter comes in an unsealed brown cardboard box and includes:-
- Meter itself in a bubble wrap bag for protection
- Instruction leaflet in 5 European languages including English
- 9V battery. Shrink wrapped. I assume its alkaline, but there is no indication on the battery
The operation of the meter is very simple with just a single push button to turn it on and off and five LEDs for display. The LEDs are bright and of different colours from green to red. The battery cover is held in place with a small screw. This screw goes into a metal thread rather than self tapping which is a sign of good quality build.
I measured EMF levels in a range of locations and found:-
- Background level in my house is 1 out of 5 LEDs
- Close to my wireless router measures 5 LEDs
- Close to back of my mobile phone 4 LEDs
- Close to a ghost 4 LEDs ( I think it was 4, but I was running away too fast to read it properly)
The cost of the meter at the time of review is approx £13 (with voucher) which makes it good value for money.
Highly recommended.
The listing for this is labeled as both an EMF reader and ghost-hunting equipment, so heck yeah I had to get this! After trying it out, I can say that this is a great EMF reader, and a not-so-great ghost-hunting tool.
I work in an old hospital, specifically an old mental health hospital, complete with creepy basements and everything. Now I know for a fact this place is haunted because my coworkers and I have all seen things we can't explain. There's even an old doctor who likes to hang out in a specific spot - it's like he went to work one day and never left.
This thing stayed green throughout my many walks in the hospital. For a week, this thing went on walks with all my coworkers. The only thing we now know for certain is where all the wi-fi routers are lol.
I'm giving it 5 stars because it's a pretty good EMF reader. It that's what you're looking for, this is super easy to use and since it's under $20, I would say the cost is just right.
I've been using this compact EMF meter for a few weeks now, and I'm genuinely impressed by its quality and versatility. The device feels solid and lightweight in my hand, making it perfect for carrying in a backpack or pocket during investigations or everyday checks. The clear LCD screen is easy to read even in dim lighting, and the build quality inspires confidence—no flimsy parts or confusing buttons here.
Functionally, this meter really shines with its ability to detect both electric and magnetic fields across a wide frequency range. The five-level LED alerts and sound alarms are fantastic for quickly identifying EMF hotspots. I especially appreciate the ability to mute the alerts during late-night ghost hunts, avoiding unnecessary noise but still getting visual cues. It's a cost-effective choice compared to higher-end models, offering plenty of features at a reasonable price with solid after-sales support.
The ERICKHIL EMF Meter comes supplied with a 9V battery so can be used straight out of the box.
It's a simple switch on and point device. The display has five coloured lights and when pointed at an electrical object will show anything from green (normal EMF levels) up to red (extreme EMF levels).
I've been around the house repeatedly testing out things like the laptops, router, microwave, phone etc. My phone emits the lowest EMF with a constant green reading, and it's no surprise that the microwave scores the worst at constant red readings.
I can't vouch for how useful this is for 'ghost hunting' as I don't believe in ghosts. Suffice to say, I've had a wander around the house with the meter a few times and got consistent green readings, indicating no ghostly presence, which comes as no surprise to be being a complete sceptic.
In short, handy, easy to use pocket-size device.
I have two of these. This one I use in the kitchen to check my pan for cooking. The other is a different brand i use for my reptile room and it started not working right. I changed the battery seemed to work better but the Lazer works when it wants to. I will update this review if anything changes.
This is very handy. I can't think of a simpler and quicker way to get the surface temperature from an object. When I ordered this, I was mostly thinking about some inconsistent ambient temperatures in my house. This made it easy to identify the surfaces that are warmer than everything else.I find the device very simple to use, especially in "hold" mode. The instructions are pretty good. The main thing the user needs to keep in mind, is the size of the detection spot, as indicated by the sketch on the side of the device - it's a very good idea to put this right on the side (see photo). If you want to get a representative temperature from a small object, you need to get close. It's very easy to point the laser from a distance and forget how large of a circle is being sampled.I'm particularly happy that the device works with rechargeable batteries, as some electronic devices don't like the slightly lower voltage. I'm sick of electronics being ruined by leaky alkaline batteries. The accuracy seems pretty good, though I haven't attempted to quantify it. For most things I'd use this for, I'm more concerned about the temperature of one surface relative to another, and not its absolute value.
This infrared thermometer gun has an adjustable emissivity setting, which is crucial if you care about an accurate reading. Every surface reflects light differently. That means if you're trying to get an accurate temperature of the outside of your stainless steel sauce pan, an at the same time use it to check your pizza stone, the readings will not be accurate -- unless you adjust it for each individual item. This gives you that option. I use mine almost exclusively for checking the ceramic stone temp in my Ooni pizza oven, and have it set to .95. If I wanted to read the temp on the surface of a stainless steel item, I would change it to .80.I found this to be within a degree of another laser thermometer I have that cost 3 times as much. For under $15.00 at the time of this review, I consider this an excellent value - especially when considering it will read up to 1,112º F, and yes pizza ovens absolutely get that hot!
I got this thermometer to help with benchmarking temps on PC computer parts. Rather than relying on just the PC native sensors, I now have an accurate handheld thermometer as a backup. You can switch between modes, Fahrenheit and Celsius with the push of a button. You can use this thermometer to measure anything, thanks being able to easily adjust the EMS setting. I also appreciate them including AAA batteries. I highly recommend this product if you are looking for a infrared thermometer!
I've been looking for a deal on an infrared thermometer for my outdoor grill and pellet pizza over and I finally found it. The packaging was easy to open, which is great because it will double for storing the thermometer when not in use. It comes with the required two "AAA" batteries and worked as expected immediately after inserting the batteries. The laser dot appears when you squeeze the trigger allowing you to determine the precise spot you want to get a temperature of. Once the trigger is released, you get an instant reading. This will really help me to make better pizza in our UUNI pizza over by making sure it is up to the proper temperature to start cooking. The price is more than reasonable, and the device is working exactly as expected. This is a great buy if you want the ability to measure temperature on the outside of something without a probe.
I use this for checking oven temperature. It works very well. I’ve compared its temperature with other thermometers and it’s pretty accurate +/- 3 degrees.Struggles on Matt black and reflective surfaces
Like that can set it for the correct material you are pointing it at. Easy to use. Temps seem pretty okay when you are up close. I’m using it to check the stone temperature in a pizza oven and it seems perfect for that- exact temperature is not critical - just need to show that it’s very hot!I’m happy with its function
Easy to use and good value for mony
I got what I expected, works great.

I have an older Infrared Thermometer Gun that I've used for years, but it is 6X bigger. I tested this little gun against it and this little gun is just as accurate as my bigger and more expensive old gun. This does not have all the extra features of my bigger gun, but it is just as good at showing me the things I use a Thermometer Gun for like finding hot & cold spots on my exterior room walls, or showing me when my pizza stone is hot enough to put my pizza in the oven, even letting me see the temperatures of my external SSD enclosures. I used my old Laser Thermometer Gun for all kinds of things every week, and this is just as accurate, plus it fits in the palm of my hand. Perfect of all my needs.
